Laser Hair Removal – What to Expect

Personal care items are provided for your comfort. We understand the need for empathy and discretion. All our therapists are female that have also experienced the Laser Hair Removal regime and are very sensitive to your individual needs. You and your Laser Hair Removal therapist will wear safety glasses to protect your eyes during the procedure.

At City Laser Clinic, our trained, qualified, professional laser therapists work to create and maintain a friendly, professional and safe environment for our clients.

Your City Laser Clinic laser hair removal therapist will use a small hand piece that touches your skin to deliver the pulse. You may feel a light spray of coolant on your skin before each laser pulse. Some clients prefer to maintain a conversation during Laser Hair Removal treatment and our laser therapists will always work to your needs and will explain to you the progression of the laser treatment.

The length of an individual Laser Hair Removal treatment may last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the size of the area being treated. The number of laser treatments required depends on several factors related to specific kinds of hair and skin.

It is important to understand that hair in the active growth phase are most affected by treatments as the hair contains optimum levels of melanin, which is directly targeted by the laser.

Our Laser Hair Removal machine has a dynamic cooling device. This cools the skin on contact, making the treatment more comfortable.

Clients have compared the feeling to an elastic band snapping against the skin. Client’s individual pain threshold can vary.

After the laser treatment, we will provide you with a soothing Aloe Vera gel. If you are treating Facial area, we will provide you with an ice pack. If you find that Laser Hair Removal treatment is difficult to tolerate, City Laser Clinic will recommend the use of a topical anesthetic cream.

Like any procedure, there are pros and cons to Laser Hair Removal. Some of the advantages include long term or permanent hair reduction. When hair does grow back between laser treatments, it grows lighter and finer in texture. Laser Hair Removal is also extremely effective for managing unwanted hair growth on the larger areas like legs, arms, back, and chest. Some of the disadvantages are that Laser Hair Removal is not suitable for everyone.

Clients with darker skin may not achieve satisfactory results. Darker skin clients may experience pigmentation. Also, if Laser Hair Removal treatment is not correctly performed, this may result in long lasting skin discoloration. Before commencing your laser treatment, City Laser Clinic strongly recommends you thoroughly research the treatment center of your choice and the equipment they are using.

At City Laser Clinic, we recommend at least 6 to 8 laser treatments, 6 weeks apart for a significant reduction up to 70%, this does require your commitment to treatment each 6 weeks, or as otherwise assessed and advised by your City Laser Clinic laser therapist based on assessment of your hair and skin type.

However, if you wish to achieve up to 85% hair loss, men usually require up to 12 and sometimes 15 treatments due to the higher levels of the male hormone testosterone. Any remaining hair will be much lighter and softer and will be controlled by maintenance laser treatments each 4 months.

Please contact City Laser Clinic to arrange a FREE laser consultation to discuss a laser treatment plan that suits your needs with one of our trained, qualified and experienced laser hair removal staff.
