Who can have Laser Hair Removal treatment?

We can treat Women and Men of all ages. Children under 16 will require a presence of a parent on the first consultation or a parent's written consent.

Is Laser Hair Removal permanent?

Permanent hair reduction is guaranteed. Clients can achieve anywhere from a 80% - 90% hair reduction. These results will be influenced by certain conditions such as skin, hair colour and hormones. We advise 2-3 Maintenance visits a year.

Is Laser Hair Removal treatment safe?

How long will my treatment take, and how many treatments will I need?

Every Laser Hair Removal treatment, like every client, is unique. Individual treatments will vary according to skin and hair colour, lighter the skin and darker the hair, the better the results to be expected. On average we recommend 8-10 treatments. Some clients may require additional treatments, depending on the individual. Treatments should be repeated every 4-6 weeks apart depending on the hair growth rate.

There is no need for long hair. Blonde, red and grey hairs can not be treated. 

What precautions should I take before or after my treatment?

In general, avoid sun exposure for 3-4 weeks before Laser Hair Removal treatment, and again 1-2 weeks after the treatment. We recommend wearing 30+ SPF daily.

Are there any adverse side-effects to laser treatments?

In general, most procedures have a low risk of adverse side effects. Some clients experience pigment change in the skin color. If this occurs, the skin will typically return to normal pigmentation over time. All treatment results are individual.

Is it painful?

Our laser machine has a dynamic cooling device, which cools the skin on contact making the treatment less painful. Clients have compared the feeling to an elastic band snapping against the skin but clients individual pain threshold can vary.

City Laser Clinic can recommend the use of EMLA, a topical anesthetic cream. This cream can be applied to the area 1hour prior treatment.

Should I be receiving Laser Hair Removal treatment if I am on medication?

There are certain medications that can affect the treatment. The most common are Roaccutane and Retin A. These medications can cause pigmentation to occur during treatment. We recommend starting Laser Hair Removal treatment 8 weeks after finalizing the course of your medications.
